Matching Insulation Materials To Varied Applications
There are a wide variety of insulation materials available on the market each fulfilling different requirements. Asbestos is probably one of the most well known types of insulation materials. However, asbestos has a number of health- and safety hazards related to it and is therefore not commonly used anymore especially where health and safety are major concerns in a structure. Glass fibre is another type of insulation material that can be hazardous when broken and breathed in but is also a great insulation material.
Webbing insulation can be made from asbestos or glass fibre and have a number of applications from truck webbing to exhaust covers. Twisted and braided ceramic ropes as insulation materials provide greater insulation than either asbestos or glass fibre without having the health and safety concerns of the other two materials. These ceramic ropes also have many more applications than the above two mentioned insulation materials. Webbing, braided ropes and twisted ropes come in a tape from that makes it possible to manufacture insulation products that need to meet unique specifications for certain applications no matter how large or small.
Insulation blankets and cloths are made from a range of different fabrics and cloths with the main application being either heat retention or to protect against heat. In other words these types of insulation materials can be used to prevent burns or to prevent heat from being lost in some applications. Another form ceramic insulation comes in liquid form and can be painted directly onto roofs, ceilings and walls to provide thermal insulation. These types of paints have many other different types of applications whether residential, industrial or in the building and construction industries.
