Top Quality Cryogenic Valves That Meet The Highest Safety Standards
Fire-safe cryogenic valves are used extensively in the upstream liquid natural gas (LNG) industry; they are manufactured from stainless steel and are offered in a variety of valve types, including:
- manual globe valves
- needle globe valves
- actuated globe valves
- flange joints
- swing-check valves
- float level isolation valves
- lift-check valves
Our valve technology comes from fifty years of experience in the development, design and manufacture of valves for the downstream LNG and industrial gas industries. Over the last ten years, we have developed valves especially for the upstream LNG industry, and particularly for use at LNG liquefaction sites, regasification, LNG storage terminals and on LNG cargo carriers.
Cryogenic Needle Globe Valves
These cryogenic valves are available in three configurations:
- metal-to-metal seat
- fire-safe design
- extended-stem
They have a Class 150 pressure rating and their end connections can be either butt-welded, socket-welded or flanged. These extended and non-extended spindle needle globe valves have an integral metal seat and bolted bonnet and the valve has a conical seat design for a very tight shut-off. The reason for the bolted bonnet is to allow easy site maintenance with particularly easy access to all the serviceable parts of the valve.
Cryogenic Manual Globe Valves
These manual cryogenic valves feature many of its design features and specifications with the needle globe valves. The particular benefits and features of the manual globe valves include:
- Operational temperature range from -196 degrees Celsius to +80 degrees Celsius
- Developed for use with liquid petroleum gas (LPG), LNG and other flammable gases
- For marine applications, 316 Stainless Steel construction is offered
- Thermal expansion and contraction are allowed for with the loose-bolted design, also eliminating bonnet gasket leakage
- Operator safety is ensure by the anti-blow-out spindle
- Fire-safe approved to BS EN ISO10497:2004
Cryogenic Actuated Globe Valves
These actuated cryogenic valves also have a Class 150 pressure rating and they feature similar technology in terms of their end connection construction, conical valve design and bolted bonnet. They feature an austenitic stainless steel Teflon (PTFE) seal and graphite packings. Two basic configurations are offered:
- Hydraulic motor-driven
- Pneumatic actuators
These valves are available as the following derivatives:
- On/off
- ESD (emergency shut-down)
- throttling
Cryogenic Float Isolation Valves (FLIVs)
Although these cryogenic valves also have a Class 150 pressure rating, they have been specifically designed for use with a secondary float level gauge on LNG cargo carriers. The FLIV is fitted with a gearbox that has a clear, visual open/shut indicator and a single operator can operate the valve and the float in the same location. Actually, the FLIV is a specially-designed stainless steel swing-check valve, but with a manual open/shut operation. A special “super finish” valve seat is employed to ensure a tight shut-off and no leakage. This type of seat design also notably reduces any risk of losing the float (or trapping it during operation) or cutting the tape. Sizes range from eight inches to twelve inches; end connections are flanged only.
