The movement of encoded information by means of electrical
transmission systems from one device to another or the transmission
of data from one point to another over communication channels
like for example the Internet. The amount of data that can
be transmitted at time depends entirely on the devices being
used and how fast they are and most importantly the amount
of data being transfered and type of data being transfered.
For example with the Internet, if you transferring big files
that contains graphics and large image files, this will slow
down the file transfer rate unless you are using a super fast
machine.
Data communication has turned the world around because of
its convenience it transferring data to different recipients
at the same time, now companies do not have to waist time
and money trying to get data where it should go and another
advantage of data communication is that sensitive data can
be restricted to specific people who are suppose to receive
the data, although it is very convenient but one still has
to make sure good quality security measures are in place in
order to protect or rather restrict sensitive data from landing
into the wrong hands.
While technology is increasing on a daily basis especially
where communication is concerned, it is also extremely important
to keep trends on new security technology as well, because
some information can be very dangerous to your company if
it is not well secured. When I talk of security, I mean software
like firewalls and so on, which will prevent external and
internal intruders from accessing vital information that might
be harmful to the company, and also implement necessary access
control measures so that even the information cannot be accessed
internally by people who are not suppose to have access this
to that specific information. |
